(Letter from a Interior Design Educator)

We are in the process of forming a certificate program in Interior Decorating at our university.

We have read some information on your organization and we were quite impressed with the efforts of Ron Renner and the organization to raise the standards in the industry for decorators and to distinguish the difference between the decorator and the designer. As an Interior Designer and educator, I am familiar with ASID, NCIDQ and appreciate these affiliations with Mr. Renner.

I have a Master’s degree in Interior Design and have taught at the Bachelor level for many years at several local colleges and universities. I observed, at almost every level, whether it was Associates or Bachelors, the instructors ignoring the competing decorators as if they did not exist, as if we ignore them they will go away. I believe, like Mr. Renner, that we have to make them accountable and hold them to a higher standard.

I have discontinued teaching the in the four year programs and have started teaching again in the certificate programs at an Art Institute and a university in general design classes. We at the university would like to distinguish our upcoming Certificate program from the rest by certification and accreditation by a recognized and thoughtful organization such as yours.

We would appreciate some detailed info about the criteria by which you evaluate these programs. We are hoping to start our program by Spring 2007.

Thanks,
J.D.

Dear, Mr. Renner:

I have just finished your Distance Education Certification Program and I must tell you it will be a great help in continuing my decorating business. Not only was it a great review of the decorating profession, but also I found that two parts of it absolutely invaluable in continuing my business. I have been very weak in the area of furniture history in the past, but found that your section on “The History of Furniture and Architectural Styles” very concise and informative and exactly what I needed. The other section that for me personally was well worth a thousand times it’s weight in gold, was Session #7, “Consulting: Fees & Compensation”. It cleared up so much for me on exactly what I should be charging and I am so grateful for the Proposal, Terms, News Release, Resource Letter, Letter of Agreement and Project Worksheet samples. They will help me tremendously. Add to that, I now will have credibility with the public for my years of practical knowledge in interior decorating. I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful program.

Respectfully,

" Thank you so much for designing such a wonderful course. Your lessons offered me a wealth of knowledge while maintaining a consistent pace and strait forward nature. My passion for art and design is lifelong. However, it was through the DTI Certification program that I learned what I know now. Each session made me realize there was so much that I needed to learn. I am glad you, a professional and veteran in this field, provided me with this opportunity.

With what I have learned here and my background in fashion and advertising, I feel my career possibilities are endless.

Again, I thank you for this fabulous opportunity."

" I am writing to let your know how much I enjoyed the program. After following your recommendations about advertising, it worked! I got my first client and, at first, I was nervous until I entered their home and remembered what you said, enter with confidence, be sure to listen, be yourself, you are the professional. Thank you again for being there when I needed answers". Mrs. C.C. Holland, Mich.

"I enjoyed my time working through the course. The most valuable parts to me were the "hands on" portions such as the Furniture Layout, Material Choices, Window Treatment Elevation and Wall grouping. The templates and color wheel are a valuable addition to the workbook and I found them very helpful. I look forward to your review of the assignments enclosed". T. C. Plano, TX
